Map of the Month - July 2024

July 2024’s Map of the Month shows hedgehog records from Molescroft Parish!

This month’s map show hedgehog records mapped as part of our support for Molescroft Wildlife Network, one of the local groups NEYEDC works with. The network, which is undertaking numerous initiatives in the parish to help wildlife, received funding for their Hedgehog Highways project, where they are looking to improve the area for hedgehogs and increase awareness of what can be done to support them, including installing hedgehog houses and making gaps in fences to link gardens. NEYEDC presented talks at their Hedgehog Highways Project Day in April, showing parish residents how to make records of hedgehogs and other taxa and how data can be used in local decision-making. This map shows existing records already in the NEYEDC database, with records added that were submitted in-person on the Project Day in April. NEYEDC is regularly taking down records from the network's iNaturalist pages, which NEYEDC gave guidance on creating, to include in our database.
