Map of the Month - December 2024

December’s Map of the Month shows farmland bird survey data mapped against crop type!

This map shows a preliminary output from mapping being completed on behalf of Keith Clarkson, a bird recorder in the Yorkshire area who regularly provides records to NEYEDC. Keith has completed farmland bird surveys over a number of years covering the same areas, recording species viewed or heard from publicly accessible paths and any crops associated with them. As part of the exploration and examination of this data, we’ve produced mapping like the above to illustrate some of the different options for presenting and analysing these records. NEYEDC will be working with Keith in the coming weeks and months to help produce outputs to support his publications and share his findings.
